Full Gospel - Biblically Balanced
by Rev. Thomas R. Mitchell

At Word of Truth, we bill ourselves as being a Full Gospel, Biblically Balanced fellowship. What exactly does it mean however to be Full Gospel and Biblically Balanced?

First of all, it means that we proclaim Jesus Christ as our risen Lord and Savior. We believe that God the Eternal Son, the Second member of the Holy Trinity, left His place in the Heavenlies to come in the flesh as man. Jesus Christ was and is God, He is also perfect man...in fact, Christ while fully Deity, is also fully man. He was born of the Virgin Mary, her impregnated as the Holy Spirit came upon her. Jesus, once born, lived upon this earth for some 33 years, the last 3 being spent fulfilling His ministry and mission; the preaching of repentance and the Kingdom of God, the making of disciples and believers, the healing of the sick, the raising of the dead, the casting out of demons, the defeat of Satan and ultimately achieving for His flock, the redemption from sin, forever saving us from the wrath of God and eternal damnation. This He did by willingly dying (by crucifixion) for our sins upon the Cross on Calvary; this is commonly known as the Atonement (Christ being the ultimate, atoning sacrifice for all the sins of those who would believe). Once Christ was dead, and buried for 3 days, He rose again to rule and reign forevermore at the right hand of His Heavenly Father. This same Jesus Christ is the Great I AM, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, He is the Creator of all things which have been created, both those things seen and those things unseen.

At Word of Truth, we believe that anyone who truly recognizes and repents of their sins, while turning to Christ and confessing Him and accepting Him as their personal Lord and Savior, are truly regenerate and born again into the Kingdom of God. Their sins are forgiven, Jesus Christ is their Lord. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way, the only truth and the only life; no man comes unto the Father but through Him! Secondly, we believe that the Holy Spirit, being sent in His fullness to believers on the Day of Pentecost, has also been given to us, to dwell within us richly. This we call the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This Baptism, a simultaneous or most often, a subsequent work of grace, is given to all those who will simply believe and receive. Many people receive the Baptism of the Spirit without seeking it, many receive the Baptism of the Spirit by recognizing the Biblical promises found in the Word of God and then asking, seeking and knocking until they too are filled and immersed with power from on high. Such baptism and power are for the glory of Jesus Christ, that we as His saints, may be equipped to spread the Gospel and to make disciples of all people. With such an infilling of His Spirit, we are at once empowered as Christian witnesses to do mighty works and exploits in the name of Jesus Christ. We also believe that those who are so filled, or baptized with the Holy Spirit will bear much good spiritual fruit for the Kingdom of God. They will walk in love, humility and ever increasing faith and wisdom in the Word of God. Word of Truth also believes that those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will speak in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. While this experience is not necessary for one's salvation, we believe that until one does receive this "objective" evidence, they will never truly know for sure in regards to the Holy Spirit's baptism. Such belief and thinking is well grounded in the Word of God and we know it to be true and accept it as absolute, eternal fact.

Thirdly, Word of Truth also believes that the Word of God is inerrant and infallible. We believe that while God has most perfectly and gloriously revealed Himself to us in and through His Son Jesus Christ, He has also given us the Holy Scriptures as our guide, inspiration, influence and truth for this life. We believe and know the Word of God to be living, encouraging, challenging and able to change those who will simply read it and believe it. We believe that the Word of God should be taught expositionally whenever possible so that the whole counsel of God would be presented accurately to those who would hear. This is best done by going through the Word of God a book or letter at a time, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. The result of such Biblical balance and teaching is a strong, balanced and Spirit filled believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Finally, we believe that such a person; born again, Spirit filled and a true student and believer in God's Word, will live a life of love, power and blessing while here on earth, and an eternity of reward, peace and comfort in Heaven.

Our hope and prayer is that you will consider our position on these all important subjects. Study the full counsel of God's Word and prayerfully ask God for His guidance along with an extra measure of wisdom. You have nothing to lose and you most certainly have much to gain.
