The purpose of the Word of Truth Ministries website is twofold. First and foremost, we wish to exalt and to glorify the name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Second, we wish to thoroughly educate those who truly hunger and thirst for His righteousness. We believe that true Christianity consists of sound Biblical doctrine without compromise, combined with a life filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Too often it is either one or the other; dry orthodoxy with no life, or charismania without any emphasis upon God's Word.It seems to us that the theology of Jesus as well as the theology of Paul (both one and the same), consisted of uncompromised truth AND uncompromised power. Such a stance has of course alienated many from both sides of the fence. Many who are Calvinistic, as am I, disregard all "Spirit-filled" believers as heretics or at best, emotional basket cases. Many who are Pentecostal, as am I, disregard all sound Biblical doctrine as "dead religion" and want nothing to do with the contextual exposition of God's Word. Both of the above positions leave much to be desired.
We believe it to be the better part of wisdom to keep all things firmly anchored within the Word of God. As an Ordained Pentecostal Minister I am well aware of not only the extremes within the Body of Christ, but also the lifelessness. As Christians, we must preach and teach Salvation in and through Jesus Christ above all else. As Christians, we are also instructed by Christ Himself to make disciples...this being a bit more difficult than simply winning converts. Jesus also tells us that in His Name, we will do even greater works than He (John 14:12). Traditionally, many have felt that by the Gospel's spreading throughout the world, these "greater works" were being realized. Yes and No. There can be no doubt that the evangelism of the world is of utmost importance. Dare we assume however that the healing of the sick, the casting out of demons, along with the various giftings of the Holy Spirit are not for today? Dare we assume that Jesus Christ is different today than He was yesterday? Dare we assume that the Holy Spirit, once confirming His Word with signs and wonders following, no longer desires or sees the need to do so? Dare we assume that the spiritual gifts which were in abundance in the early church simply existed for a generation or two of believers and then simply went away? I would hope that you would carefully consider your answers.
We all have a tendency to settle into a type of "comfort zone" within our faith. Such a "zone" is typically where we feel no threat and no need for change. The Gospel of Jesus Christ however, requires great change within the individual. Our salvation is indeed a gift of unearned and undeserved favor and grace. Even our faith is a gift from God of which no man can boast. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is also such a gift that if only accepted, will tremendously impact one's life. While regeneration is an event totally performed by God, sanctification seems to work best when we cooperate with God's Word and of course, His Spirit. We are instructed quite clearly in the Word not to quench, grieve or blaspheme the Holy Spirit. By denying His power and His infilling of believers however, I fear that many, while standing firmly upon their traditions and safely within their "comfort zones," have done the very thing that they sought not to do; the quenching and grieving of His Spirit.
It is our hope that while visiting our website, that you will not only read those authors with whom you are most familiar, but that you will also gleen what you can from those with whom you are not. I love to read Edwards and Boston for example, but I have learned a great deal from Finney and Wesley. No, I don't agree with everything that Finney and Wesley have to say; but then again, I have respectful disagreement with Edwards and Boston as well in certain areas. I might add that if you only read those authors that you totally agree with, you will have a small library indeed. We are not to be gullible or swayed by every wind of doctrine, but we are not to live with our heads in the sand either. While I am touching briefly on the subject of authors, let me go on record as saying that my very favorites include Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Charles Spurgeon, Thomas Watson, Jonathan Edwards, Thomas Boston, John Flavel, John Owen, Thomas Manton, Richard Sibbes, W.G.T. Shedd, A.W. Pink, Charles Finney, Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, Watchman Nee, Kenneth Hagin Jr., Wayne Grudem and Stanley Horton. Those of you who are avid readers will quickly notice the wide range of authors just mentioned. It is from such authors, along with the Word of God, that my writings are flavored.
At Word of Truth, we firmly believe that the Word of God is inerrant and infallible and for today. We also firmly believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, along with His empowerment of believers is for today as well. Please take your time to peruse our page and visit the various links. In closing, let me reiterate once more; we are seeking to glorify Jesus Christ; we are seeking to educate the saints; we are seeking to live lives of Christian truth, love, balance and power! If you have similar desires within your heart; join us and let us grow together...for indeed, as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
